About me

Hi there! I’m Ashley, also known as Xia (霞) Zeng (曾).

I currently work as an LLM and NLP Algorithm Engineer at Fliggy Alibaba, where I focus on integrating and optimizing large language models (LLMs) for real-world business applications that simplify and enhance everyday experiences.

I hold a PhD in Computer Science from Queen Mary University of London, where I was supervised by Dr. Arkaitz Zubiaga. During my PhD, I was part of the Computational Linguistics Lab and the Social Data Science Lab under the Cognitive Science Research Group. Before that, I earned my Master’s degree in Linguistics with Distinction from University College London. My academic journey also includes being a visiting student at UC San Diego and serving as a research assistant at TU Darmstadt.

My PhD research focused on few-shot claim verification for automated fact-checking, exploring ways to enhance fact-checking technologies with limited training data. Alongside my doctoral studies, I contributed to HSBC AI CoE as a post-doctoral research assistant via the Turing Internship Network, where I worked on evaluating generative AI for internal applications.

I am broadly passionate about LLM and NLP applications in areas such as:

  • Task-oriented dialogue systems and LLM-based agents
  • Automated fact-checking and claim verification
  • Machine translation
  • Expanding real-world capabilities of generative AI

Feel free to reach out or explore my work—I’m always eager to connect and discuss new ideas in NLP, AI, and beyond.
